Well, everyone is entitled to their OWN opinion, and I've never worked in really BigLaw, and have no desire to do so. I believe the attitude in BigLaw is very similar to investment banking--that is, chauvinistic, work at all costs, and to hell with those who can't or wont.

Fortunately, I have found a niche in what is known as a mid-size firm, where I am appreciated for what I bring to the table, as an energetic female associate with ideas.

I am not afraid to voice my opinions to anyone, including the managing partner, and believe it, he appreciates my opinions. There is no male egos at our firm, and unlike Duggan, I expect to be made a partner in a few years.

Finally, I don't care for men who carry around their credentials on their sleeve--I certainly am not impressed with a guy who goes parading around telling women that he works at [NAME OF BIGLAW FIRM]. That kind of woman is the opposite of the woman I portray.

I also started out doing crap work for a number of years, moved to Wheeling WVA (not a hotspot), then finally, this year, on to NYC. While I don't claim to be in the biggest firm, I am at a firm people have heard of, and that's what counts. I am in the big-time, for the first time in my life, and people look up when I say where I work. Admittedly, I don't have much of a chance to become partner, but I am going to ride this out for all it is worth.

Women that wouldn't even look at me before are now fawning over me (I have a job), and make decent dinero. So hang in there, it is possible to go from PODUNK to NYC, just work hard, and make a great impression.
