Now there is more confusion. I have already degree, and is not JFK the New York airport so if you are a Southern Lawyer, how is it be that you can be in New York airport at the same time? You need to have more time to not worry, be happy, no?

Guano, I would be mildly offended but for the fact that your comment looks like it was written by some English as a Second Language student working the AT&T call center as a "customer service supervisor" --a recent promotion from your previous gig of driving my taxi out of JFK.

Southern Lawyer, then perhaps all that I know is that things should go more slowly down South, no? And then you must be the only one who is overworked in the South, yes mahn?

Are you serious? I had to beg to take a 4-day vacation this year. I'd be willing to do the most unspeakable things to be paid to go away.

I know legal tease says corporate departments don't care about pro bono work in immigration and adoption, but you might want to think about foreclosure programs. Pro bono foreclosure projects may give you the ability to renegotiate deal terms with lenders or servicers. I say may because you would have to work as a counselor instead of an attorney without bar membership, and obviously each case is different. It's not 8-K drafting, but it may involve securitized loans, renegotiating loan terms, or TILA recissions. It sounds more up your alley than defending parking tickets.

Embrace it, dude. You don't have much choice. Take the money, do whatever you can, and try and get a good job. If you can't at least you have some bucks. If you get a good job, then keep it after the year is up. I know a guy who was deferred who is planning on going on a 6 month trip through Europe and Asia. Assuming he gets through all of that and comes back in 1 piece, he will have plenty of world - life experience to talk about. Who knows, he could meet someone and stay out his days in a grass hut in Borneo. Wouldn't that be a change!
